The solution for treating works of art: paintings, woodwork, ornaments, paintings on various supports.

Econacid is used by many art restorers to treat infected works of art. It was developed by the Laboratoire de Recherche des Monuments Historiques (LRMH) in Champs sur Marne.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS :

60% aqueous solution containing 0.2% econazole nitrate

The case of a painting
The damaged painting is likely to have been exposed to very high levels of humidity. It may be covered with mold on the front and back.

It is necessary to proceed in stages :

1/ Identifying the nature of the infection germs
As soon as the table is received, or on site, a microbiological analysis must be carried out by a specialized laboratory, or by field methods such as MICROTEST A.

2/ Dust removal
The painting should be left in the workshop for some time to stabilize at room temperature and hygrometry, as the presence of humidity in the painting can lead to reactions with treatment products.
As dust is a nutritive substrate for molds, and mycelium is an obstacle to fungicide treatment, dust removal is strongly recommended.

3/ Antifungal treatment
Microbiological analysis enables us to determine the nature of the contamination. A suitable treatment can then be established.
ECONACIDE is used on works of art that are actively contaminated and can be treated without risk to their integrity.
Depending on the nature and fragility of the work, ECONACIDE is used either in its alcoholic form, or in its pure aqueous form directly on materials attacked by micro-organisms.
On the painted side, test treatment with econazole nitrate to avoid damaging the work.
If possible, remove the reverse side of the canvas to better impregnate the various elements of the painting with the alcoholic econacid.
The product can be applied by brush, pad or spray. It works immediately and dries in 20 to 30 minutes.
Ventilate the room well.
